Reading entered a Men’s and Ladies Team to participate in the 2007 European Interclub Championships [The Champions League of Underwater Hockey]. The tournament was played in Slovenia, Kranj one of the most beautiful Underwater Hockey Venues in the World. 16 Men’s and 8 Ladies Teams competed for the Cup.
The Teams:
Reading Ladies > Nina, Fi, Janet, Becks, Rachel, Wendy, Emily with guest appearances from Marie (France) and Tanya (Aus). The ladies produced an incredible performance on the day by winning all their games and Winning the Final 12-0. An awesome team!
Reading Men > The usual suspects: Pete, Dess, Toni, Ki, Taz, Eryl (Slough) and Carl (Wickham), secret weapon Richard (Kiwi)
With only 8 players Reading produced a Breathtaking performance by making it to the final after dealing with the Slovenians, Serbians, Belgiums, French, Dutch and local challengers Team Ealing. Reading met Fontenay the top French side in the final and put in a Massive effort ending runners-up by one goal. Well Done Geazers!
